Selected Projects Ports, Marine and Coastal Works MOSE Mobile Gate System for Tidal Control – Venice Lagoon, Italy The MOSE is a major civil, environmental and hydraulic engineering project intended to protect the city of Venice and the Venetian Lagoon from flooding due tidal excursions. The project is an integrated system consisting of rows of mobile gates installed at the main lagoon inlets that are able to temporarily isolate the lagoon from the outer Adriatic Sea during high tides. Client: Technital S.p.a. - Italy Completion period: 2005 - 2008 Construction cost: 5,500 Mln EUR Services provided: Structural Detailed Design and Shop Drawings for fixed caissons, abutments and gate bearing slabs at MOSE’s main gates (Lido San Niccolò and Malamocco) MOSE Mobile Gates Loading/Unloading Berths – Venice Arsenale, Italy The project regards the construction of the complex load bearing structures required to handle the loading/unloading of MOSE mobile gate elements from barges to maintenance yards, comprising of a large slab foundation and new berths, all to be constructed within Venice Arsenale, an historical heritage site.
